I did a search and couldn't seem to find this info. The reason I ask is that I brought my car in for 5k oil change to Mobil-1 and supplied a case of oil. When I got the car back I was expecting a quart or two left. I thought the 1.8T took 3.7 quarts? Anyone know?

My dealership used 3.7 quarts in my last oil change.

A case of synthetic is generally 6 quarts. Dino is usually 12 quarts.

I took in a case also for 5k and the dealer gave me back 2qrts at the end..going in in 2days for 10k

If you read what he wrote.. you'll see he said, he took in a case (6) and the dealer gave him back 2.. meaning,, they used 4 quarts... It says it in the first sentence

I replied to the original post not the one that was posted after mine by 'bootnet'. I can see into the future. And a case is usually 12 quarts - or at least it has been in the 20 years I have been buying oil.

Audi rule of thumb, 4cyl=4qts 5cyl=5 and 6=6quarts.
