BBS wheels...JAPAN???

I'm looking at buying some wheels soon and was on Tire Racks website and noticed that the country of origin for the 3 BBS wheels I like,RE,RGR,and RSGT was Japan. I thought this was a german based company.Can anyone explain?

The forged roughs are probably done by a sub-contractor since the cost of equipment to do forged aluminum is quite expensive.

I know BBS opened a plant in China, so production may switch over.

I still like the RGR for its weight(or lack of)!
