Default Please excuse my ignorance, but why are S4 parts soooo expensive?

I'm not going to ask this on the S4 board out of fear of retribution, but there are plenty of S4 folks here.

Why are the S4 parts so expensive. I would love to move up to one one day, but fear a blown turbo or two. I saw Audijon's post about his engine...$19,000! I only paid $20,000 for my A4 avant when it was one year old.

Thanks....just wondering.

Default those are dealer prices..for 19K you can get a crate engine.. prices are slightly more than regular

audi prices. It's the labor that kills you because everything on the S is an adventure to install.

Default Yeah, 40 book hours to replace the turbos! Amazing.

At least that's what the dealer says.

Default It's all relative... higher priced cars equals higher priced parts.

In many instances it's not that the parts cost more but it's they can charge more for them. Just look at what a chip cost for a 996tt ($3999) ?!!

Default Just read that on the S4 forums the other day...

to bad I don't live in Orlando. I'd be at Classic often. There is no real option to Key in Jax.

Default funny you mention that. When Upsolute came out with their Porsche/Volvo chips a few years back

they were only charging $350 installed. No one would buy them despite dyno tests etc. All the customers reasoned that it cant be any good if it only costs $350. So they upped the price and sold like hotcakes.
