Default Oh boy........

Take some advice, and don't get the GIAC. All the dealers in central Florida are NOT GIAC friendly due to a little trick that they like to pull where if any problems occur, they basically tell the customers to f*ck off.

Lets see....first example; a guy in our club had his S4 chipped by Garrett. The car went back to the dealer TWICE due to a bad ECU, and the third time, the owner asked GIAC for his money back. No dice. So he had 3 bad chipped ECUs from them, and they wouldn't take responsibility for it. Nice.

Then there is the long long story about Ryan (from Melbourne) and his Stage 3 GIAC car....which had one engine blow up, then the second engine was installed by PES/GIAC and for the next 6 months sat at the dealer with a 5 page list of problems with the install. That's just a quick synposis of the horrible GIAC PES experience that Ryan has had.

If you get a GIAC, and get screwed, expect us to tell you we told you so.

Default We've been hearing good things about Upsolute up here...

A guy we know has been Upsolute chipping tons of VWs, and they seem pretty good.

Default Lots of problems...

I have lots of problems with it, but the main problem is the surging, all it does is surge, i'll get on the throttle and watch my boost guage jump between 6-12 PSI, some other problems are just isolated problems, excessive backfiring, and sometimes the chip does not even work (stays in stock mode)

If they would fix the surging issue, it would be fine

also if they would find some way to put the car back to stock mode for dealership purposes, that would be nice too

so far GIAC is the only company to come out with a dedicated CVT chip, and everybody i know of that has done the GIAC has had no problems

Default 2 things: Do a TBA with VAG com, 2, on the transverse 2002 engines, all the chiptuners are

having surging problems. The only 2 fixes found to date are; replacing the N75 valve with a "C" version, or installing a Dawes Device prior to the N75 valve. Of the two I would recommend the C version. I have not tried the DD nor, do I know anybody that has. On the 2001's and up, Eaton changed something in the N75 valve to make the boost come on quicker. The C version boosts a little slower (closer to requested), but you dont get the overboost/correction/overboost oscillation known as surging. This topic has been beaten to death on the Vortex, and many people have fixed their surging with the C valve.

If this doesnt help, take it to your rep. Thats what we are here for. Your car should be smooth and powerful. It sounds like you have problems other than the software. It may be a bad connection or something. Did you get a swicthable chip, or a socket? I solder all of my chips directly to the board and have had 0 problems. The backfiring is usually caused by a poor connection.

Default re: "all the chiptuners are having surging problems" except ... MTM ;)

I don't think Joel has had one complaint about his chip.
