Default Bird crap baked on paint

It couldn't have been there longer than about 6 hours cause that's how long I was away from the car, but in direct sun on black paint at 95F I guess it was enough to bake it. Now there are matte spots that look like when you burn something in a frying pan. I tried claybar but it didn't touch it. Is there anything I can do to restore this or is the damage permanent?

Any products you'd suggest?

Default A light polish compound (e.g., One Grand Omega Glaze) should restore the finish.

Default I had this happen over the summer on my Cosmos Black M Roadster

right in the middle of the day, for a few hours like in your case. I'll tell you that it took me a few passes with a rotary polisher and Menzerna IP/FP to get it back to a point where I couldn't see it from any angle.

It was right on my hood, and the car was sitting in full sunlight for a good part of the afternoon. 2-3 layers of FMJ had no chance against steaming hot bird crap! You may get lucky with just some light polishing, but use my example to indicate that it may also very well be possible that you will have to spend 90 minutes working on it like I did.

Best of luck -- bring that black beauty back to life....

Default I have had wonderful results with 3M IHG (Imperial Hand Glaze), I had a spot on my BB that Menzerna

didn't even get out. Now I don't know which Menzerna was used (Phil just grabbed one quickly and used it on the spot) it appeared to get rid of the dull stain at that moment, but when I went to wash my car a week later it was still there. I used some 3M IHG by hand and the removed the dullness instantly.

I used the 3M IHG on my Dolphin Grey B6 when my hood got attached by birds and it worked great. From my experience IHG is the best at removing that dull bird crap residue.

Default IHG doesn't have anything that will restore damaged clearcoat.

It will clean crap off the clearcoat, or hide imperfections temporarily, but it will not polish down damaged clearcoat the way Menzerna will.

I believe one of the detailing websites recommends P21S Multifinish Restorer mixed in small quantity with IHG, when IHG alone isn't sufficient to fix an issue with the paint...so that's another option if you can't do a proper polish.

Default Then I guess my bird stains did not "damage" the clear coat.

Because after using IHG the dull marks were gone and I never noticed if they came back on my old car. And so far on my new car the spot has not come back, I am of course going to have to check it out tonight when I get home.

Which Menzerna polish would be best for this situation?

Default Threadjack(sort of) I picked up my car from dealer service appt like this........

I was in too much of a hurry and too p.o.'d about something else to track down the service manager.

Looks like a family of seagulls were camped out above it.

Needless to say, after my last detail, there are no obvious signs of damage.

Default Best for which situation...damaged clearcoat?

As always, the rule of thumb is the least aggressive polish you need to correct the issue. Pad choice affects the final results as well. If final polish with a mild cut pad doesn't cure it, step up to intensive polish with a med. cut pad.

Default What do I apply it with?

RKA mentioned a mild cut pad. Which particular one would you suggest? FYI, I'll be doing this by hand, not machine.
