Default New Car Questions

Have taken delivery on a new dark grey/blue Infinti G35 and need some new car care feedback. Site serach has provided some ideas, and I would like your suggested routine or some answers to the questions below.

1. Wait time to polish/wax? Seems like the overall opinion is no wait time is required (to let paint cure). Thoughts?

2. Wax only or polish/wax? I plan on using the Menzerna line. There is a lot of excitement on the site about PO85RD -- suggest a coat of PO85RD then FMJ? or FMJ only?

3. Is a wash with Dawn needed?

4. Opinions on the compelte routine, e.g., wash, clay, wash, then FPII or PO85RD and FMJ? Is this necessary? Run the risk of overdoing/scratching? car looks good with minimal belmishes that I can see.

5. Any favorite polish/wax lines for a dark blue/grey car? Any carnuba toppers recommended over the FMJ such as 1z or others?

Thanks.

Default Re: New Car Questions

1. There should be no wait time before you polish or wax your cars, your G35 was probably on a boat for a few weeks then a dealer floor for another month or so....as well most paints now a days are cured at the factory. (from what I have been told)

2. Menzerna is the way to go 85rd should be the only thing you need as long as the dealer didn't put swirls in it. Followed by FMJ or a good Carnauba paste wax for a nice deep shine.

3. I would say dawn is not needed but you can use it.
4. Wash, clay, polish, and sealant or wax.
5. Menzerna, Lusso, Swissvax, Einszett all great (but I might be bias )

Hit me up when you are ready I can help you out definitely with the 85rd and Menzerna line.

Congrats on the new car!

Thanks.

So, you are recommending either FMJ only or 85RD followed by FMJ? (do not use the routine with clay, etc. as in #4 above)

I have not used the Menz line before, but it seems to have a lot of support...85RD sounds awesome also.

What are you thoughts about added shine/depth for a coat of carnuba over the FMJ?

Anybody else got any opinions?

Thanks.

Default I'm recommending 85rd then FMJ....

I like just carnauba but that's just me, alot of my customers and members of this forum like to put carnauba on top of fmj.

I would use clay 1 or 2 times a year. Pretty much as needed its not necessary to clay the car frequently, if you keep up with the washes the contaminants stay at bay, you can always spot clay the areas that need it.

Let's see if others will chime in.

Thanks.

Curious. On my 5 year car that has been reasonably kept up, do you see the 85RD replacing the FPII in the "total" 1-2x year process of wash, clay, wash,IP,FPII(replace with 85RD), FMJ?

Thanks Phil. Other opinions welcome also.

Did PO106FF replace 85RD?

Is 106FF better to use on a 2008 car with a new clearcoat?

Thx

David
