Default paint protection film noob here. should you wax the car before it is applied....

my car is brand new. i picked it up last wed. and the dealer just washed the car prior to my picking it up.

i am planning on getting paint protection film, specifically avery's stoneshield film.

so, should i put a layer or several layers of wax on? i was assuming that it would be best not to.

but i want to see what y'all's recommendation is.

TIA.

Default NO! Wax/glaze/polish needs to be stripped with alcohol or 3M adhesive remover by the installer.

Default thanks! so i will leave the car as is. any negatives to putting the film on? anything to be....

"careful" about?

i heard some films orange or start peeling. i figure the latter is due to poor installation.

please let me know.

thanks!!!

Default well you can wax the film like you would paint..that would help protect it from the elements

Default I applied XPEL on my b6S4...front, hood, rockers, quarter panels...made

templates from manila paper and cut from XPEL bulk for the trailing edges of all the fenders. In the sunlight you can't see it. It's a ton of protecion, especially if you're in a heavy truck traffic zone and also have winters where stones are put down with salt. If you get the technique down pat, it's fairly simple and I did muck up one pre-cut piece I had to replace for $60. I saved several hundred $$$ install fees though and had some "fun" along with a big learning curve. Some don't like it...this is my second S4 I've had XPEL on.

Default It can be machine buffed with a PC and P21S or 3M IHG/Machine Glaze, then Zaino'ed.
