What years are those urqs? Looks like the red one is an 85 from that angle, and the white one is an 84. Am I close? That white one looks a lot like mine!

I think Pribble's is an 83 with a different grill. He can verify that..
Mine is an 83 (the white one) and its recently acquired. And Fluhr's is an 82. James Bufkin 2001 A8L 1983 UrQ 1998 A6

Is the rear spoiler body colored on that 83? Thats what threw me off. Also, is that the white one that was for sale at Anderson Miotorsprts, or that white ebay one?
Just curious |

The rear spoiler is white and vinyl covered, Its really beautiful and probably from a late 80s Coupe GT.
The Car is the Ebay one from South Jersey. Cost me $4550. I drove it 1600 miles back to Austin in 2 days without any problems. Engine is very strong and idles smooth. The only body rust is up front near the shocks at the hood, and its minor. There are currently some vacuum leaks since the diff control isn't working. Engine has has the TSB cooler on the hot ignition problem, and a steel pipe turbo ducting mod. The wastegate has been drilled out by prior owner. Engine boosts up to 15 psi. The interior is in excellent shape. The driver's seat has been replaced with a Recaro brown that matches pretty good. There are after market 3 gage panel on the dash, and an aftermarket water temp gage below the dash on passenger side. Interior is that tigerstrip cloth. Cruise is unhooked. AC system works but needs a rebuild to use 134. Brakes are stock. Rims are 15" BBS in decent shape. BF Goodrich rubber with plenty of tread. The car was really much better than the the listing. The seller had no idea of what it was worth, and I he voluntarily close the auction a day early.:-)

You got a nice deal! Thats a pretty car. If you have more pics, can I see them? There was alot of discussion on the audifans list over the bidding being closed so early. Are you a lister too?
I thought about bidding on that car myself, but one urq is enough! Gary |

I just joined the list, and missed all the talk.
I'm not sure why he closed the auction early. I think he was eager to get money and I was good to go and ready to fly up there on Friday(an equally agressive buyer). I actually told him that he might be short changing himself by ending early, but he seemed content to end and sell to me. I didn't really have any problems with the car from the test drive, and my purchase was re-affirmed after the visit to the Austin Audi lunch this past Thursday. The car is in even better condition than I thought, as verified by Fluhr and Pribble, two people who's opinion I regard highly. I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post here. Any areas you want in particular? JB

I took a look at that car a while ago, I guess you got it from his son Steve if it was in S. Jersey. Car is quite nice, esp. for the money.
Pls. put up some photos once it's cleaned up! TM |

Thanks for the lead on the car.
A quick search on Audifans List, turned this up: ------------------------------------------------ Please note- the car is located in the northern suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. That said, I have a couple more details and have cc'ed the s-car list to make sure I get the widest distribution. Someone cc: the UrQ list if you feel that it is warranted. Sorry again for the WOB, but I reall don't want to see this car go to the wrecker or auction if it can go to an enthusiast- the car really is nice, esp. for the price, and it seems like it could be restored to tip-top condition with a few thousand put into it. Paint may only require clay and machine buffing- it's hard to tell with a white car on an overcast day, but it looks intact and polishable, just a bit tired from being out in the sun. Minimal rust, really, undercarriage looked pretty decent on a cursory inspection. Forgot a couple more details- the car does not have the Ronal wheels on it- they are platinum BBSes, look like BBS RG, very similar to the OEM wheels from the '91 200q/V8, except platinum centers and I think these wheels are 15x8, not 7.5. Suspension seems okay, a bit soft in the front, but not totally shot. It has a bunch of auxiliary gauges installed, in VDO pods on the passenger side of the dash- not the best install, but not that bad- oil temp, pressure, boost, water temp. It's a two-owner car according to the Doctor. Contact info- Phone number: 267-446-1012 Name: Dr. Bernardino Just tell him that I was one of the two Japanese guys- the owner of the black '91 200q that came up to see the car last Saturday. Taka -----Original Message----- From: quattro-admin@audifans.com [mailto:quattro-admin@audifans.com] On Behalf Of TM Sent: Saturday, April 20, 2002 9:45 PM To: Quattro List Subject: UrQ for sale- has to sell this week, cheap! Sorry this is not in the marketplace, but this car won't be for sale for long, so I thought I'd post to the list- '83 UrQ white/brown $4400 Cosmetically, the car is in fair shape- the paint is fairly clean, no dents or surface rust, there is a bit of rust near the front shock tower on the passenger side, there is a bit of rust in the rear wheelwell. The sills and doors look rust-free. The passenger door handle doesn't work from the outside, typical team doorhandle stuff. The engine seems to start up fine, no smoke on startup, idles smoothly, doesn't smell rich or lean, revs freely. I'm not certain of the ownership history- it might be a one-owner car, my friend knows some more details. The car has an Alpine/Canton aftermarket radio system, looks nice, didn't listen to it. The driver's seat has been replaced with a Recaro, I think it's an Ergomed or an Orthopad, not 100% sure. The owner is a doctor, has many, many toys, needs to get rid of this car. Unfortunately, if the car isn't sold within the next week or so, it will be donated to charity, and I think it would be a shame to have this thing go to the wrecker. Email me direct if you're seriously interested, I will have the contact info for the owner shortly. I will also have photos soon. Taka ---------------------------------------------- I guess no one bought it at the time, cause it went to auction where my seller bought it and was keeping it at a potential car graveyard. :-) Thanks again, James B.
