radiator flange. You can also check mixture, but i would do that second. Temp sensors go bad a lot. Also look at the connector and be sure that it isnt corroded. The sensors are pretty cheap.

If the ECU sees high resistance at the sensor metioned above, mixture goes rich.
So, possibly a bad connection at the sensor(if any coolant leak there, a good possiblity), and the temp sensors seem good at going bad too. They can fail either way. High resistance (runs rich), or short out (makes car very hard to start, but runs OK once warm).

right after. I never smell gas on start up except for when I have a hard start.
