Default V8 4k

Too heavy for a 4k front end... But still a nice swap.

Default yeah some other guy tried the same thing

I have a pic printed out, but forgot the site, never found out if he finished it. he got the engine in and fine, but he had no cooling system whatsoever since there is virtually zero room for a radiator, etc... cool idea though, kickin once it's finished...

wonder how they beefed up the suspension for the extra weight?

Default I think the other picture I saw was a guy trying to cram it in a CGT

Default Nope, not too heavy.

The V8 is an all aluminum block, not cast iron like the I5. All in all, a complete V8 long is only about 30 lbs heavier... Almost the weight of an A/C compressor.

In the pictures posted there's no cooling, so the engine's just sitting in there. Anyone could drop one in and snap a few pics. I'd be more impressed if I saw it actually propel itself.

Default i know of someone doing a V8 tt swap into a 90tq

He isn't on aw as far as i know but he is on www.eurospeedltd.com/forum and the 034efi forum. He just picked up a v8 and is designing a twin turbo setup, using the same 034efi IIc with ignition control and all that. sould be pretty crazy.

Default Er...How about Jeffery Goggin and his urq project car...It was getting a PT code V8

But he never finished the swap IIRC due to the giant PITA it was among other reasons.

Default V8 + all accesories is basically the same weight as a 5cyl turbo w/all accessories...

I think some of the V8 bits are a little lighter, and get the weight w/in like 5-10lbs? Forget the stats...
