Default Anyone else have a 4000 burn up (or is it down?) in their driveway?

We did. It took the fire department 30 minutes to get to our house from 4 miles away in the middle of the night. It was the car I learned to drive a stick on. I also learned what a parking brake smells like out on the highway if you leave it on for 15 miles.

Damn, sorry to hear that. I've never heard of that happening...did they trace the cause of it?

Default Nope, had a 240Z that did that with a minor fuel leak.

Default I think it was just an oil-leak turned to fire in the engine compartment...

...this would have been in '88 or '89 on an '82 or '83 4000.

Default Had a 78 Fox with a leaky metal fuel line right under the battery. Was lucky, no fire.

Battery acid had eaten through the line after....I'll guess 8 years? Pretty sure I checked my 87 4000 and the fuel line wasn't routed under the battery. I think.

Had lots of leaks with my diesel truck dripping/shooting fuel all over. No big deal. Rebuilt the fuel return manifold (lots of little hoses) at about 150,000 miles and haven't had a leak since.

Default That reminds me of when I bought my Coupe GT...

There were 2 Zermatt Silver Coupe GT's at the time, one in the show room and one in the lot. I decided to buy the one out on the lot. The day that I went to pick up my car, the guy who bought the Coupe on the showroom floor was also picking his up. He drove about 1/4 mile or so down the road and his car caught on fire. He had a bad catalytic converter and it heated up and torched his car. I think I chose the right car.
