Default audi 89 500 se (South Africa)

Please help if you can,
Hi,
I will do my best to give you as much information that I can.

Car: Audi 500 SE fuel injection. (Automatic) Model 1989. No modifications it is standard. Two months ago it had the fuel injection system set up by specialist. The car ran perfectly until recently when the weather here in South Africa began to move into Spring.
Every morning I travel 6 Kms to work. The idling remains constant at 7000 revs when stopping at stop streets etc:
At this point the temperature gauge has hardly moved. At lunch time the car starts but the idling starts to drop after a few kilometres, and starts cutting out. It will not idle. I have to keep the engine running by keeping my foot on the accelerator. I have increased the mechanical idling adjustment but it does not help it keeps stalling.
I am no expert on fuel injection but there is an idling control which seems to consist of a valve which opens when the car is warm and redirects interconnecting pipes? In the morning there is no voltage to the idler but when warm it has a 12 volt supply. The valve does work. Removing the supply to this valve makes matters worse. If I rev the car at any point the engine runs smoothly until I take my foot off the accelerator when the engine dies. Before I can restart the car I have to switch the ignition off for about two minutes, switch on and then the engine starts.
Unfortunately there is no one in my part of the world that knows anything about the Audi so it is very frustrating. To make matters worse the Garage that set up the fuel injection has gone out of business. The car spent a day with car electricians but they could not resolve the situation.
I will forward any information you require, but please help me get my car back on track.
Many, many Thanks,

B470 (Dave.)

Default Just to verify...

Did you mean 7000rpm's or 700? Idling at 7000 would be insane!

Sounds like you have a vac leak somewhere.

Hi Paul,
No Luck I clobbered it today but it made no difference. I measured voltage on idler it was 0 volts when cold and 0 volts when hot. Is there a relay that controls this valve?

Regards,

Thank you I am sure it is.
I cannot help thinking that it must be related to an electrical fault. Why when the engine stalls do I have to turn the ignition off for a minute or so to allow something to cool down? Further I noticed that the idler is constantly vibrating. If I remove the plug I cannot measure any voltage either DC or AC and yet on restoration it begins to vibrate again. there must be something that I am missing. I am leaving home for about a month soon and my wife will never cope with this problem.
Please rack your brains again.
