Default Heater Core / Blower Motor Rebuild with pictures.

I just finished up on my Heater Core / Blower motor rebuild, I took some pictures when I was doing the job.

Here is what the blower motor case looked after I took it out of the car:

Take out the right side, it only connects to one flap. The other side connects to 4 flaps, as you will see next.

Left side stays in-tact, take apart horizontally, like "shuffling a deck of cards" See how all the flaps stay in their proper position.

New heater core goes right in, and since it does have the proper foam, there is no need to wedge anything else, it fits like a glove.

Here is the final "product" both halves are connected, all three screws, and 10 clips are back in place. I used some "citrus" style cleaner that is made to clean up adhesives, crayons and grease. See how shiny it looks, ready for foam weatherstrips, and installation.

My next task is finding the proper foam strips, and I know that they can be purchased, but I'm need to get this job done this weekend. I already purchased two different types of foam weather strips, but they seem too "rubbery" and I'm not sure if the hardness of the rubber will allow the box to fit properly.

Stay tuned, this project is not over yet.

So far I spent 2-3 hours removing the box, and about 2 hours taking the box apart, but I work slow. I don't want to fubar anything.

Be careful when reinstalling the box that that cable in your last picture is routed correctly. I had mine all back together and was celebrating my success when I realized that that cable was mushed up and wouldnt function.....had to tear the thing apart again and unbind the cable. Just a tip for ya.
