simply took out the old, put in the new. I never removed entire inner door frame, just traced a line with a marker around the shims and bolts, then removed bolts and shims to gain access to the back side of the winder to gain access to the "C" clip.
I don't see how you can use a RR motor on a LR door. I keep thinking that the left and right sides are mirror images of one another, and so would function the opposite of one another. Wouldn't the spool winding be the opposite take up on the reel, if used on the other side of the car? So, wouldn't "up" be "down" at the switch, and vice versa? If I am all wrong, and the motors will interchange, then check for good window switches. A bad switch at the master unit on driver's door, will affect the function of the switch at the door. Of course, there is also "Mr.Obvious".......did you had the ignition switch turned on when working the window switches? |

yes, you would think so. 4x5x5 may be having wiring or switch problems that prevent the motor from operating.

Very "easy" to R&R the motors. Actually looked in Bentley for possible answers and they outline how. You're prolly thinking of the motor as the whole assy that holds the cable. The motor is the just the appendage that plugs into the gear drive. All of the motors are the same regardless of position, all will interchange. As I mentioned 12V source was on the bench so no wiring issues. I had to reinstall the assy as there was rain in the forcast. Got in the car today and voila, the motor was working. Best guess is the cleaners I used had caused some interference and evaporated off overnight. Now time to "rebuild" all my spare motors for the next failure!

On a number of occasions my driver side window will stall on the way up. (due to heavy grease used to keep the water out). Sometimes after a stall it will not work, like dead! Then two days later voila! it starts to work. I do not have a clue. It is like a temp overload switch that does not reset.
