Default My new car thinks im trying to steal it?

I bought a 1990 audi 200 turbo this weekend, and so far its been lots of trouble. It's a beautiful car, pearle white, dark leather interior, ect...
It will randomly not start; The dealer i bought it from (small buy here/pay here lot) said to leave the key in the run position for an hour to reset it.
Is there something I am missing with this? Randomly it will start and randomly it won't, very frustrating. The battery is fine, the climate control system will start up just fine it just will not turn over no matter what I do. I dont have the time to let the car sit draining the battery for an hour every time i want to go somewhere. Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks.

Default The used car dealer is F.O.S.

Never came across that procedure to 'reset' anything.

You need to provide more detailed info in order for anyone to help diagnose the problem. 'Start' is too broad a term.

Take a look at the link in my sig to review the factory alarm system. A bad starter cutoff relay circuit could be one cause.

It will not turn over. Everything electrical comes on without a hitch, but the engine will not even attempt to crank (fuel pump does run though) Thanks guys, i really appreciate it.

Default Seems odd it would be intermittent, but 100 & 200

operate starter kill off the door locks. Got a hell of a deal on a '90 100 a few years ago because unlocking the driver's door would not unlock the starter kill. I just used the passenger's door lock until I got the driver's side squared away.

I tried locking the doors and unlocking them on both sides (one after the other); would replacing the relay help at all, since they're only ~$20 online. This car was $900 + T&T (he wanted 1200 originally) so... i duno. It cleaned up very nicely, the BBS wheels look good
