but I went with the KYB GR-2 shocks cause they're pretty inexpensive. Don't remember where I got them...

I too will look at the tie rod bushing as a source of the creaking.
Last year I installed the KYB GR-2 struts, as well as KYBs on the front. Really like them. However, they provide a rather stiff ride. I rather like it that way, but it is still a little too stiff for my liking. I plan on upgrading tire size from OEM 185 X 70 X 14 to 195 X 70 X 14 on my na type '87. The addeded tire heighth should make my car ride a little smoother. |

In my case I had an annoying squeak develop in the left rear. It turned out to be the rubber buffer that insulates the top of the strut assembly from the body. The rubber looked OK on the old one but when I replaced both of them the squeaking vanished. Its not too hard to replace them. Requires spring compressor
