Update: Yes, radiator fan thermoswitches CAN become intermittent.
My radiator fan speed 2 has been making me wacky(er) lately. Just when I was convinced that it wasn't working, it would begin working as designed.
I replaced the relay twice, and measured voltages at the relay's coil a couple times. Sometimes it would seem okay; other times it would seem that the thermoswitch fan speed 2 conatcts weren't closing when they should (95 deg C).
Today I replaced the thermoswitch with a new one and the fan is behaving itself nicely.
I'd have thought that a simple bimetallic switch would either work or not work. However, mine worked sometimes at the correct temperature, and sometimes it didn't. Why? (Because it's an Audi?)
