so what holds the door trim on on a 5k?

If you are referring to the wide trim in the center part of the door, it is held on with a caulking type of adhesive that remains tacky. Gently pull and it will let go. The same material is also used to hold your tail lites as well.

yeah, the big black strip. with chrome in it. Any particular type of adhesive?

There are 2-4 nuts INSIDE the door...interior panel has to come off...
