Default goofy central locks???

All of a sudden my central locking from the drivers door stoped working. It's not the jamb switch. I took all door trim off and from what I see everything is connected. Here's what it's doing......when I turn the key in the drivers door lock to either unlock or lock the door it's turning the lock enough to unlock or lock the door but not enough to trigger the rest of the locks. Also, when I unlock the door with the key the lock is clearly not going up as far as it should, even though it's going up enough to actually unlock the door. I'm wondering if I need a new vacumm actuator in the drivers door? The funny thing is when I manually pull up on the actuator (with the door panel off) it works. Randolph

My '90 has a similar prolem. There is a rod actuator from the lock. It is is held by a plastic anchor. It was such a job to get at I gave up and just lock from the passenger's door. I got a deal on that car because the ignition kill was part of it, seller thought it wouldn't run.

I ageree with Tom Faust, it sounds like the rod connector to the key lock is broken. Suggest that you remove the door panel so that you can look at the problem. Or better yet,you should be able to just remove the screws that hold on the door handle, jently pull back on the door handle to see if the two rods are connected to the door handle. If you don't see that the two rods are connected, you have found your problem. I am assuming that this is on your '87 5K? I have done this on my '86 5K a couple of times, so I know that this works.
