2 intercoolers?
Don't bother unless you're running some serious boost. Even then, you'd be better off with a upgraded sport/single pass intercooler... The only thing you'd probably do with 2 intercoolers on a 1.8 bar chipped 5ktq is increase lag. All that extra piping will cause a pressure drop most likely... Steve Michigan

First of all the talon turbo is half the size of the K26 so its usless. I once put a modified K26/to4 on a fully done talon and it was a perfect combination.

There are two measures for intercoolers, flow and temperature drop. If I have it right, flow is more important at higher speeds and temperature drop is more important at lower speeds. Dual coolers would probably drop the temperature, this would have to be balanced against a loss of flow. If your electrical source is stable, flow can be tested with a leaf blower and a pressure gauge. Stability of electrical source is important as the leaf blower speed may vary with voltage fluctuations.
Dual intercoolers are usually used with dual turbos, such as on the Nissan 300. If I recall correctly, the Talon i/c is rated as a better unit than the Audi. Adapting it might be a problem. Did you get the blow off valve? |

I normally get parts such as the turbo so that I can make a profit. There are still a few other turbos at the yard I could pull, no Audi turbos though. Thanks for the info on the 2 intercooler setup. I didn't really think it would work, just an idea. I can get the blow off valve off the car, but I have a forge on the way. Does anyone else out there have any info on whether the Talon IC is better than my IC? I'm going to sell this stuff soon, so I don't want to get rid of an intercooler that would be an upgrade.
Thanks, Jason |

Here is a link to turbo Identification. It doesn't speak well of the Talon. Comment on Audi 10V is "any intercooler is better than none". Also shows some joined i/c units.
I've meant to see about replacing mine. A quick look tells me some metal would have to go to make room. Should be possible to weld in a brace to replace the lost metal. Then there is the problem of height. This probably means cutting a hole through the front bumper cover for air flow. Spearco starts to look like an eaiser deal. I understand that they average out at about $450.00. |
