Default Diverter (Blow-Off, Bypass, etc) valve questions.

I've got my 1988 80 Quattro that I put the 3B engine from a '91 200 Quattro into. I am wondering what the advantages to an upgraded bypass valve are, and what you guys with tuned turbo cars would reccomend getting. I like the Forge valve, but the Hyperboost valves by Stratmosphere look good too. I've got the stock Bosch valve on now, and I belive it leaks pretty bad (it is original).

Any other good brands to look at?

Default Re: Diverter (Blow-Off, Bypass, etc) valve questions.

I don't have a bypass valve on my 1990 200tq but I was thinking of getting one since I am chipped. But anyway I don't think you want to go with a "blow-off" valve that vents metered air with out reciculating it because it can cause you to run rich when it vents and you will get decreased performance, milage(sp?), ect.. As far as forge valves go I have heard good things about them on the s4 board, but I am no expert. Maybe someone else knows what are the best valves?

I bet your car really goes, is it chipped?

Default Heres's a link to a short money BOV.

Total cost is about $30.00 with the NAPA pressure switch. The pressure switch is adjustable for boost pressure. The "high-low boost switch" is something Gus originated to limit boost at the drags while staging and launching. He switches to high boost at 60 feet, after the tires are hooked. With 24 pounds, he was burning up his tires at launch. THe switch activates a solenoid on the wastegate and allows cut in of 2 additonal injectors. Since few have this, he explains setting up the BOV without it. There is a lot of short money turbo stuff at his site. It is MOPAR 2.2 - 2.5 liter specific. Gus is a grandfather now.

Default Yeah, the car is quick. Not chipped yet though, but will be getting a 2B chip soon.
