Default Need help on Hydrolic fluid changing.

The Hydrolic fluid in my 86 5000S is the regular stuff found in parts store not Pentosin. How would I drain the whole system and put in the right stuff? If I just empty the reservor, there may still be some fluid left in the pump, steering rack or even the pipes. If there are sections in Benteley which I missed about this, please let me know the section number. Thanks a lot.

Default You'll have to flush the system a couple of times...

Keep draining the fluid out and refilling. Drive a bit, drain, refill, drive a bit, drain, refill,etc...keep doing this a couple of times to maximize the possibilty of purging all the "bad" fluid out of the system. This will probably cost you a bit of money as Pentosin is not cheap, but this is what you'll have to do...

Hopefully you have not done alot of damage to your hydralic system by using regular P/S fluid...

Default There are some info. at 20v.org ...

Check this out pentosin at 20v.org. But I still think Stephen is right, in my case, with the wrong stuff in there, I'd better bleed and refill it several times.

I have not notice anything wrong yet although the wrong fluid has been in the system about a year.
