Default I could use some help/advice on BBK install. I found rounded off nuts on the hard brake line

I am in the midst of doing my suspension/BBK install and everything was going great. I was scared of the lower pinch bolt on the front (had a nightmare with my old A4 with the similar bolt) but they both slid right out. The break down and contruction of the new strut assemblies went well. I was having a great day. Right up till I went to remove the stock brake lines......... The picture doesn't really show just how bad the nut is on the hard line. A previous owner or inbecile tech has totally rounded these nuts off..... on both sides. I can't even tell what size they are supposed to be. I am assuming 10mm on the hard line and 15mm on the soft side. Regardless I can not get a wrench on either nut. What are my options here? Would it be possible to snip the hard line and put a new connector on it? I have never done this but I suppose I could buy a flare tool and try. It looks like someone has already tried to use a pair of vise grips on the top nut and that didn't work. Has anyone faced this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Default Ditch it and get some stainless lines.

I know you want to have it done now but get some braided lines, remove all that is wrong and do it right. You'll feel better when it's done right.

Default That doesn't help - he still has to get the old ones off first. Try using Irwin ViceLock Grips

Get the special vice grips with the bump in the center. They work wonders, I've used them to undo siezed brakeline nuts on all my cars.

Default I'd cut it off and either make or buy new hard lines. Since this is this the front

it won't be very long.

Default Be careful ordering from dealer, my car was outta commission for 2 weeks because...

No FLAPS had the correct type line, and no warehouse had it, so it had to come from Germany

Default Sounds like a good time to invest in a metric bubble flare tool...

Default You have to use the right type of vice grips - see my updated post below

Then install fresh set of stainless steel lines. No point in replacing with the rubber stock rubbish.

Default ... and then what? Use the fancy vice grips to screw the mangled fitting back in?

I have those pliers too. I bought them as a talisman to ward off sized compression nuts. It seems to have worked so far.
