Default S4 Project progress

I figured I'd post some pics of my undergoing project. Only a few more bits and pieces left to work on until it runs; FMIC piping, 928 MAF-to-Intake, and last but not least Hap's Software.

Default Looks great. One suggestion: Remove the license plate holder and...

trim the license plate slightly (top and bottom) and then remount plate directly to the bumper (using the plate holder holes and screws) so you don't block air flow to the FMIC.

Default Calling Apikol, 034efi, Addict MS, etc...

This sounds like a perfect self-advertizing project. The Ur-S license plate holder that is *legal* (here in Washington, you are not allowed to trim your plate) and gets the plate out of the way of the FMIC airstream. In addition, it could have the maker's name and website all over it. Especially with the plate pulled (like folks might do for photos).

AND, it would hide any bumper cover blemishes from the stock piece.

Easy to make, legal, helps FMIC folks, has advertizing on it - what's not to like?

Default You could probably just raise the stock holder up 1.5" and get the same thing.

Default I have a trimmed plate...

I've trimmed the plate on the '00 S4 and never had an issue.
As long as you don't go over board, the police don't care. You can still see the issueing state and the plate number on mine.

It looks a LOT better than that big factory plate holder piece they wanted me to use. This way it's flush with the bumper and doesn't look much out of place.

I was pulled over for not having a plate in the first place and was instructed (yes INSTRUCTED) by the office to put a plate on the front or he would write me a ticket the next time he saw me without it. I've since been driving around with a modified front plate without issues.

...and yes, I do live in WA state...

My only concern on the UrS4 is the holes to hold the plate in place would actually be in the bumper. On the '00 S4 it has the little removable panel that the front plate gets mounted to. Not sure I'd want to put holes in the actual bumper skin on the UrS4. When it comes time for the FMIC, I'll consider modifying it.

Default I like the contrasting powder coat on the valve cover! What did you paint

the injector cover with and where did you get the 4 rings?
