compression test?

i'm selling my 93 100cs quattro, in hopes to trading to a urs4, and one of the sales prospects this weekend asked if he could run a compression test on my car... himself, on the street, in NYC.

which got me thinking: in my search for an S4, is this something you guys recommend I also arrange for when looking at cars? while it doesn't seem all that time consuming, it's nonetheless somehting i never considered. certainly threw me for a loop when i was asked for my car....
