All other things being equal (which I assume they are), the new V6 filters are twice the price of the I5 ones.
Jim By the way, as an interesting aside - Changed my buddies 98 A6 oil filter the other day. Filter on the car - Factory Audi Filter. Changed to : Factory Audi Filter stamped with german for "long interval filter" (made to last longer between changes and thus one would figure filters better). The kicker: The normal one was BIGGER physically than the "long interval filter". Go figure. |

I use the larger VW Diesel filter. Holds a quart of oil, adds almost a quart of oil to my oil system for added thermal reserve. Twice the filtering media, keeps the oil from turning black sooner. European Car magazine did a story on this a couple years back. I've been using the larger filter for more than 7 years on all my Audi's, with out a hitch! Highly reccomend it!

According to the parts list, my 2000 A4 is supposed to have the -J (2-yr/shorter filter.) I found the -D on my car from the last dealer oil chnage. Somebody was sleeping! I was a little worried at first, but I'm sure I'm right.
