Default 30 ft lbs, my ***!

So I'm changing my oil today....Changed the filter, putting back in the drain plug...torque it to 30 ft lbs as Bentley suggests. Hmmmmmm....starts dripping oil as I'm tightening it...hmmmmm, not getting much resistance....oh, well look at that, the drain plug housing just seperated from the oil pan. Crap. But kudos to eurocarparts in San Diego....got an oil pan being delivered here tomorrow morning for $110 including overnight shipping.

Default JB weld wouldn't fix it?! :b

Worst I've had is a stripped drain plug.

Default Nah...I think it's beyond that...and I don't want to chance dumping my oil on the highway!

Default Yeah, I was joking. =) You don't have an oil pressure gauge, do you?

Would hate to smell burning oil and look back, see a cloud of grey smoke and a 500' trail of oil. Gross!

Default Are you sure it's not 30 INCH lbs?

30 ft lbs seems like a lot for an oil pan drain plug.
