Default For a manual trans

There have been quite a number of threads on this topic. Do a search, and you'll find many opinions.

I use NEO 75-90 in the rear diif, and RHD in the tranny. I want the best wear resistance I can get. Plus, I have limited slip, so wear is a big concern.

Redline and Amsoil are also good products too.

Unfortunately Auto(slush box), but will be replaced with 5speed trans when it goes. 97(manufactured 9/96) A6q 2.8l sedan ENG:AFC. I think the correct type diff fluid is 75w90 but will have to check...unless someone else knows for sure. Trans Dex II/III? Has anyone had experience with amsoil diff/trans fluid? Or hyas anyone tried both with noticeable results between two? Thought? Opinins? I will have tranny fluid flushed again (last time was 10k ago) current miles on vehicle=71k. Just because of the recent incident relating t thermostat problems which probably heated the trans fluid (the oil temp was a bit high at the time of incident) and now it may have lost its viscosity/chemical structure.

Default This means that Redlines claims as to meeting the minimum lubrication / performance requirements....

have not been verified by an independent testing lab. These oils may not meet industry minimum requirements. Why Redline does not submit their products for independent testing is beyound me. EVERY other lub manufacturer does!

Default A few reasons I suppose

1. It costs a lot of money to submit for certification. AND, you must produce your product, and continually test production to meet spec. I suspect they are currently doing ASTM D2887, and shear testing, but not performing API spec testing. Just a guess, not based on any factual nformation.

2. It isn't sold for street use, no need

3. It IS sold based on word of mouth and reputation
