Default Wheel search over!

Well, the wheel search has ended!

It'll be BBS RX's and staying with the factory 17x8 size. A big shout out of thanks to allroad'Ed now for a ton of great information both on the board and via e-mail in my search. A big raspberry to Tirerack for a complete inability to interact in any intelligent fashion with me. After three tries I finally wrestled a price from them of $338 per wheel even though the web price, when I selected an A6 and the wheel, was $270.

I finally wised up and bailed on them did a little Googling and talked to Adam at Speed Warehouse Motorsports (http://www.speedwaremotorsports.com/) in Seattle. And as he turned out to be another Audi-phile he was very helpful and got me a price shipped across the country (Seattle to Baltimore) with the BBS factory recommended 12mm spacer and the new bolt set for $1420. Maybe I could have done better but after fooling with the rack it was too pleasant to deal with someone who appeared to know what they were doing and wanted to help so I just pulled the trigger.

Here's hoping it works out like I think it will and again thanks to Ed I'll remember to stash a set of the factory bolts for use with the spare!

Allen

Default Great choice, though obviously I'm biased. When will you get them? I'll be in

Baltimore in a couple of weeks (actually Hunt Valley, and Chevy Chase) for some business and to visit family. Would love to see them on the car.

Default Funny thing is that they stock H&R spacers and distribute to dealers only.

And that's who I originally got my BBS 12mm spacers from.

But in their defense, both TR and Discount have a company policy to not sell spacers, or wheels requiring spacers, to retail customers. It's just too hard to know all the possible combinations, and there really is a big liability if they were to get it wrong. At least with factory combinations, the fitment liability can be laid back on the manufacturer.

Default Alas I'll be in Orlando for the week in a couple weeks

(22nd to the 26th) Have to go to a trade show and board mtg

We'll see on the shipping. Adam said he'll get me the tracking numbers in the morning when they turn them over to UPS and e-mail them to me. Figure it'll take a week ground before I see them if all goes well.
