Default Happy birthday (4th) to my allroad: 85K oil change today and....Uh Ohhh....

Bad CV boot. Suggestions sought - replace boot only right away to try to save the joint? Run it dry until it ***** the bed and replace whole CV joint? Or is it easier to just replace the whole drive shaft (this is what I did in my Corrado with remanufactured parts)

Yes, there is no reason not to. Why run into the possiablity of the joint breaking and causing more damage.

Default And safer, especially if a joint decides to lock-up at the wrong moment.

Default Is that side clunking or thumping at all on uneven surfaces?

Default Those joints are bullet proof. Just change the boot and you will be fine.
