Wish I'd never given the dealer back my '01 original; newer replacement is cheap plastic and absolute crap in comparison.
Newer TCM replacement, on the other hand, cleaned up my shifts and lag is more tolerable. Original TCM sucked.

Hmmmm... do you think the TCM is backward-compatible? If so, maybe instead of getting a tip chip, we could just replace the TCM with the latest part #? Anyone know the cost of the part and if it will work in a 2001 AR?

I just posted on this forum that I have a spare leather **** from my 2001 2.7T. I replaced mine with the OEM RS6 shift ****. Yours if you want it.

I thought I'd be kind and point out one of the "newer" items replaced under warranty that was better than the original!
I know my new TCM was an "updated" box for an '01, but I don't know if the same as a '02 or newer. Guess I could pull up the carpet and look for a part number Jim???

Sure... a part number would be great. Don't kill yourself getting it... if you want to and no big rush.
I'm out of warranty... but if the OEM upgrade isn't too expensive, it might be worth getting it replaced vs. buying a tip chip. Thanks. Jim
