Default Window woes...

...I'm driving home from a GTG yesterday afternoon, and roll my window down because the weather was cool enough not to run the AC. I try to roll back up, and slooooooooowly, slooooooowwly, the window comes up about half way. I wait a few seconds, and it automatically drops about 1.5 inches and stays. Try to bring it back up, and up it goes, at regular speed, all the way up. I've had window issues with a 2000 Jetta, where the windows would fail due to the plastic clips in the window track breaking. Although I've yet to hear any "crunching or crackling" while trying to get the window up, am I about to experience the same with my Audi? I'm due for an oil change, and am terrified of what the dealer's going to tell me.

Thoughts? TIA.

Default My 2002 has had the same problems

The dealer blew the dust and dirt out of the window tracks and they have been (more or less) fine. It's the window closure sensors that are thinking your kids head or hand is hanging out the window and it reverses and takes about a minute to reset the circuit breaker.

Default Yup... something in the tracks or actuator arms in the door..

Its gets stuck and like a finger gettting caught...down it goes.

Try a little silicone lube in the visible door tracks.

Default if it's the plastic guide that is broke you can tell by bringing window up and pull back of window

up when it sticks and if it goes again the plastic guide is broke.(most likely what the problem is, very common)

Default Out of curiousity, how fast were you going when you tried to put the window up?

Default Re: Window woes...

had that happened 3 weeks ago and the dealer fixed it by greasing the frame. According to them, a new frame will cost in the region of $350-400 ex labour so they tried to fix it and ask me to use it until it broke.
