relocating to IL: do you guys put on your front license plate?

in the suburbs its hit or miss but its always something a cop can use if he is looking for a reason to pull you over.

especially since I park on the streets often. I used to have no front plates on any of my cars but I averaged about 3 tickets a month and at $50 each, I got sick of paying it so on with the front plates on the daily driver. My other cars still don't have front plates though and I will keep it that way. It's usually the meter maids that bust you, while cops usually don't care. I've been pulled over for speeding several times and not once has the cop mentioned anything about the lack of front plates.

In the burbs however, skip the front plates. Who needs 'em.

tickets a year and only when parking in locations that are frequented by meter maids...i.e. meters around Grant Park, major streets around popular areas. If you park on the street a lot then you will get some tickets, but I find if you park on secondary streets they tend not to notice. City sticker I am finally caving on...they look for that first as it raises more money, $120 a pop. I can't stand the look of the tag on the front of my old TT or the RS6 and have refused to put on the mount, its worth the $100 to $150 a year in tickets to me.

You never get actually pulled over in traffic for no front plate, they will just tack it on if they stop you for something else and notice.

if you're living downtown and parking on the street, you'll get a ticket. if you're in the burbs, it'll never happen.
i haven't been driving with a front plate since i got a license at 16, 9 years later the only time i have gotten a ticket was downtown.
