If the car is under warrenty and you haven't modded the snot out of it I would just ask the dealer to check it at your next oil change. I wouldn't go in just for the CEL.
I have a vag and could check the code for you if you want but I wouldn't worry too much about it if it is gone now. Don't pay the dealer to check anything. |

what is VAG? I don't know what that means.
How often do you take your car in for an oil change? car is brand new (under warranty) don't have first scheduled maint. for another 220 days! thanks, Jason |

When you hear people talk about Vag or Vag-Com they are talking about a diagnostic software that you can buy. It is a similar tool to the one that the dealers have. You load the software onto a laptop and plug it into your car to check (and clear) DTCs (Diagonstic Trouble Codes) codes and make minor changes within the ECU. You mentioned that your car is brand new - the OBD connector (where you plug into the car) is different than the B5 so you either need to buy the B6 connector or find someone with the correct connections. I do not have it as i have a B5.
Oil changes - I do mine every 3K but that is more often than the norm around here. |
