Default 2004 B6/S4 Bose & CD Trunk Navigation upgraded to RNS-E

So I upgraded the head unit from Symphony II to the RNS-E with the harness that came with the unit. I didn't run an extension cable from the GPS antenna in the shark but used a small antenna behind the instrument cluster as all the guides recommend. So far everything seems okay - the RNS-E outputs to the DIS but I was told I should disconnect the 'original' CD Nav to avoid bus conflict - do I need to do that and what's involved....just remove the CD Nav unit from the trunk and disconnect all/some of the plugs?

I coded the RNS-E with a '9' to indicate Bose but cannot get 255 in channel 8 of the Adaptation - when I hit TEST it comes back with ERROR. Anybody an idea?

Anybody been down this path?
