B6 A4 door speaker upgrade...
When is someone going to make this plug and play...
Crossovers have to be placed where they won't interfere (you'll have to use longer screws than come with the speaker kits but only get them just long enough to hold):

Front crossover uses space to rear of door pockets:

Rear crossover can be placed closer:

Front speaker hole is blocked:

Rear speaker hole is cavernous:

So speakers with adapters choosen to avoid problems:

You'll break lots of these 8EO 868 243 (get about 10):

Be sure to check fitment before pushing in clips - especially where top edge of door panel fits into door and around crossovers and tweeters.

Where did you get the adaptors? Any more pics?
I have just bought a set of MBquarts for the front and hope to do the same install, but am still nervous about it. How long did it take to do? What about tweeter installation?
Thanks
Thanks

It took two full days with lots of custom fabrications. The adapters I bought from...
...another AW'der in Canada. He's no longer doing them. The tweeters are a real pain because of limited depth available. I had to cut some door sealing foam from behind and I'm going to have to remove the front passenger panel and remount that one. All in all - a real pain - but people climb Mt Everest, also.
Next: the amplifier from hell.

i have never installed xovers in a door, I worry that
having them on something that moves, ie a door, can disrupt the integrity of the cicuits within. In otherword xovers tend to get beat up when placed in a door. I have my current Dynaudio x250 crossovers (x4) housed behind the panels of the cargo area: Out of the way and in a fixed location.

There are a lot more fragile and complicated electronics already in the door. CO's are no problem.
However, I found it best to leave the front door CO covers off. They didn't snap in tight enough once they were screwed down.

Not a flat mounting surface, resonances w/o dampening, lots of silicon to seal properly.
And, yes, those are pictures of my setup. I admire the simple, get-it-done expediency of your solution but it compromises the sound.
