Default 96 delta, non-bose, what can i do for speakers?

I have a stock 96 a4 with the delta non-bose system. Since I want a lot of bass, I am planning on adding either 1 or 2 12" subwoofers in my trunk.

My friend was saying that it will be all bass and I should also consider changing my speakers. What are my options for this and what do you guys suggest? If I change speakers would i need a new amplifier for them?

If I could get suggestions, I would appreciate it. I am also on a budget here, and will not have much money left over after the subwoofer and amplifier for it. Thanks
