Hi, I have the JL Stealthbox and I think it sounds great. Not to mention the fact that it takes up virtually no space in your trunk. I got mine used for $500 from an audio shop that had installed the unit in someone else's car for a brief time. New, I've seen them for $700-$800. I've never heard an A4 with any other type of sub enclosure, so it's hard for me to compare, but others have said that the sound is suprisingly accurate for 2 8"s, and provides ample bass compared to traditional subs.
Good luck, Shaun '98 2.8QMS

I just got one last weekend. JL's price for this subwoofer is $650, but you'll need an amplifier (up to 300W depending on how you wire it) to drive the woofers, and unless you're really handy, installation. Plan on more than twice that figure by the time you're done. Bose systems require a special interface unit.
The unit fits well in the trunk and is removable if you want to keep your Stealth box when you sell the car. (No cutting or drilling required!) However, just because this box was designed to fit this car doesn't mean it's a simple drop-in. If you have a MY2000 (and probably the 99.5), the trunk is slightly different, so some custom fiberglass work is necessary on the Stealthbox. Don't let just anyone install it, go to a good shop and let them have it ALL DAY. Sound is great, very accurate, and it reaches down as low as I can hear. It's powerful enough to feel bass in your hair and kick the seat backs, but just fills in nicely at lower volumes. Select an amplifier with adjustable crossover frequency to control boominess. For me, this was my only choice since I didn't want a big, square box filling up my trunk nor any extra holes cut into the car. Fortunately, this only choice is a good one. |

subs with the stealth box. I hate having a box in my trunk, even though it doesn't take up that much room. Thanks for the info.
