Default A3 2.0T trade in value??

Well guys, My A4 Avant SE S-Line is on the dock, and the A3 is getting traded in. I was wondering if I was getting a fair shake on the trade in value. Dealers make it so hard to tell what you're actually paying/getting.

The car is a 2006 2.0T MT Black/Black Leather, Sport interior, Bose, Open Sky, XM, Zenon, Cold weather. 16k miles. Any idea on a fair trade in?

Cheers,
Jordan

Default Since trade-in value is dependent on the actual condition of the vehicle,

why don't you just go to edmunds.com and see what they say it's worth?

Mike,

I was hoping for some dealer employee insight. I know the dealer usually won't give the Edmunds number.

The condition is very good, with a few of the usual small parking dings/scratches. I think it would make it as a CPO car.

Default A lot has to do with the demand for this type of car and how good the dealer is at

selling them. Do you have any CarMax locations there? Stop by and get a bid?

Default I would lookup wholesale pricing instead of edmunds for a trade-in...

A dealer will not give edmund pricing unless they are very generous...

As April stated a carmax eval would give a better idea on what to expect...

Default they will low ball you big time, dont expect anything more than $15,000...

they will make a lot of money from your trade-in for sure... can you try to sell it privately?

Default Re: A lot has to do with the demand for this type of car and how good the dealer is at

The above is true. I got $6000 more for my 06 S4 avant w/ 21k miles from my Audi dealer than CarMax offered. CarMax had a used A3 i was looking at, traded for an 08 at the dealer. Didn't get the "best" deal on the A3 i've heard of, $1000 off sticker pls they threw in Audicare.. But not bad and the trade in difference was HUGE.

Guess the Audi dealer thought they had a better market for the S4. Haven't been back there in a while but 60 days later when i did a oil change at 1000 miles they still had the car.

A3 is a lot less rare, Car Max said they only saw 7 s4 Avants (06) come up for auction tat year..that's what they based their offer on.
