Default Rear Door Unlock

Im guessing everyone will say use a VAG, but could I ask the dealer to do this? I did STFA but didnt find anything definitive except that others experienced it and didnt like it.

In my A4, when you shut off the car, all the doors unlock so you can open them from the outside. In my A3, the rear door and the trunk remain locked.

To me its annoying that I have to remember to press the unlock button and even that doesnt unlock the trunk, thats a different button.

Is there a way I can fix this myself through some switch somewhere or is it VAG only?

If so, does anyone have the codes?

Default After the '06 MY, Audi changed the door unlock coding.

You'll need a VAG-COM--

Select module 46--the Comfort Controller
Channel 03
Should be = '1' for selective unlock
Change to '0' for full unlock.

Your dealer should be able to change it, IIRC.

Default Interesting. On my '07 A3 all doors and the tailgate unlock.

But I'm in Australia, maybe the default is different here.

Default Mike, what is the dealer willing to do with VAG COM and what's the usual charge?

All I need to have them do is enable the rear fogs.

Long Coding - 07
* Byte 03 bit 01 to '0' for both rear fogs, or '1' for 1 rear fog
* Byte 04 bit 04 to '1'
* Byte 04 bit 06 to '0'

Would they be willing to do it? It's the only VAG COM update I need... I'd rather not fork over $250 for just one change. Thanks...

Default If it isn't consistent in '07s then maybe it was set by the dealer at PDI....

and some do and some don't......

Default You would have to ask your dealer what they're willing to do...

they may or may not have a VAG-COM. They'd have to use the standard VAG computer tool and I don't know what settings they can alter with it.

You'd do better locating someone in your area who has a VAG-COM.

Default My '07 doesn't unlock the other doors until you push the unlock button on the inside of the door or

use the remote.

Very, very irritating.

Nice to know that it can be reprogrammed. Wonder how much for dealer to do so?
