Default Wish me luck, 1st Road Rally in the A3

It'll be a bit different in the A3, no turbo, and the rally is during the day (normally at night).

Should be great fun.

Default Rally Recap

So the rally started in Mt. Kisco NY at 1:04 (our car # was #4). They had two checkpoints, the first one at 1:07 into the rally. We managed to get lost 8 instructions in, on a badly written instruction that others got caught on as well. Only we didnt recover as quickly as we'd have liked and ended up 23 minutes late to the checkpoint. On the way there were tons of dirt roads and since its been relatively dry around here, lots of gravel. The A3 handled it just fine as we drove through Upper Westchester County, New Canaan, Lewisboro etc. This is prime east coast real estate and you go past some seriously huge castles on big pieces of property, many with stables and lots of horses.

From the checkpoint on to the finish, we had smooth sailing. Still plenty of dirt roads but we finished on time.

Along the way they posted 'Sun' signs with symbols on them that we needed to record. Of the 40, we recorded 26. A real low for us as we usually get a lot more, but because it was a day rally they hid them well. Reportedly they hid a few behind signs at train stations and the like which is uncharacteristic. They usually just put them in open spaces and not private or public areas.

Points are scored 1 for each second late, and 50 for each sign missed. By my calculations we're into it about 2000 points so we won't finish as well as we normally do, but we did finish and it was good fun.

In any case, if you've never done a TSD, its great fun and you realy get to know your car well.

Default Maybe if I had a classic Alfa rally car I'd do that!
