Default Roof rack roll call - help me!

I've searched and searched the archives...

I have only owned Thule systems - for 23 years -on a variety of vehicles.

The Yakima systems have always intrigued me - but when I search the archives, it doesn't seem that Yakima fits the A3 well (one person says you need two people to install - another says that the door frame rubber gets flexed too far).

My question is: now that more people have roof systems on their car - would you recommend the one you have? Does anyone have experience with more than one manufacturer?

I want quick and I want correct fit. Oh - and I don't want the goofy, overpriced Audi system.

Thanks!

Default Thule

I have the Thule kit.

Foot pack 400XT
Fit Kit 2168
Load Bar: LB50
and an older fairing
Fit's great. Goes on in 5 minutes, stays in place for 1000s of mile. Comes off in 5 minutes.

I have a few pictures in my picture poster:

Also, hate to cross post, but there's a very long thread on both thule and yakima over at vwvortex/fourtitude.

Default Re: Thule bars

I've got the aero bars like Spazpop1999. They look great, fit well and go on and off easily enough, but the bike tray attachment is one small bolt front and rear. Quite a bit weaker than the old square bar attachment system.
