Default How much for a new set of stock 17s and factory rubber?

I bought my new A3 2.0T two days ago, and couldn't be happier to rejoin the flock (my first Audi was a 96 A4Q).

Yesterday I ordered a set of 18x8 BBS CH wheels with tires from TireRack--my thanks to Gary--and plan to sell the stock 17s and tires.

What would be a good asking price for the set?

Thank you in advance for your feedback. Glad to be aboard.

Default Shouldn't they fit current VWs and Audis?

Default A3's have high offset. Don't think A4's and other do. Plus, who wants stock wheels?

Keep 'em for winter tires.

I think that may be a touch high, but the market will decide for you!

I am basing this on going to TireRack and seeing what a set of new wheels would cost, as much as it sucks, used tires are worth virutally nothing to me. The OEM rubber is nothing to write home about, thus it will likely be a compromise purchase for the buyer.

Figure the wheels new from Audi are $300(?Guess?) a corner, OZ Ultraleggaras are $239/corner, so you'd need to be in the $200/wheel range to make buying used (any potentially damaged, no warranty, etc...) wheels worth it. Maybe you can get $50/tire at most, that's $1,000 for the set. There's also 5-spoke wheel that is similar for $169/wheel, are the Audi wheels really worth 2x that?

Good luck with the sale, but I'd be surprised if you get over $1,000 for the whole set. A local buyer is the best bet; TireRack is well set up to ship those, I would imagine you are not. )

A stock class track/auto-xer might like them to race with, and use an aftermarket wheel for street use. It's what I do on my Miata; the factory 14x6 are for auto-x, my 15" Rota C8s are for daily use.

Thanks for your input, Bill! A friend of mine is interested in them and he has a Jetta VR6 wagon with 17s (part of VW sport pkg).

I agree with your appraisal, and have reduced my asking price accordingly for him.

Default What platform Jetta? MKIV uses 5x100, A3 (and MKV) is 5x112.
