Default I need AW help, I put a deposit on a Lava Grey 2.0T DSG w/sport open sky etc, but I have some Q's ..

At the momement I own a 2000 1.8T Q A4, the build in A3 is top notch but I am wondering if the A3 will hold up like my B5A4?
I loved the DSG but is it enough to skip out on the Quattro?
Please give me any comments regarding the A3 pros and cons.

Thanks

Simon

Default Haldex would add weight if not the full time driveline drag of Torsen.

If you don't track your car, a tire and rear anti-sway bar upgrade should be enough to keep you amused.

Depending on the climate you live in, (do you get snow?) trading to a FWD is a major downgrade IMO. Yes, I know FWD can handle well in snow with proper tires, but AWD is superior in most situations. I'd stay in an A4, albeit newer.

The DSG vs. Quattro is a personal preference, I'd take Quattro and a manual every time over DSG and FWD. It's a cool concept and I could see myself owning a DSG (or similar concept) eventually...once the bugs get worked out and reliability is not as much of a question.

Right now, if I were in the market for an Audi the A3 loses; I don't want the 3.2l engine and I do want Quattro. It is a very utilitarian, yet fun to drive car, plus I think it looks great; the drivetrain/engine constraints kill it for me.

Default Why would you compare DSG and quattro system?? IMO, if going FWD, manual is a must

But that's just my oppinion fellas.

Thanks for the comments, I do live in TN, so snow can be a problem but it is not to bad, and I do own a winter beater also. The A3 gets two thumbs up on looks the front end is awesome. and the color is great. I know that AWD to FWD can be different but did anyone jump from a Quattro Audi to a the A3 FWD?

I did look at the 3.2 it is priced $6000.00 more than the one I am looking at and I just don't see $6000.00 in it. don't get me wrong DSG Quattro and more power sounds nice but the price could be some hefty upgrades to the the FWD!
