Default Is DSG adaptive?

Took a test drive tonight to check out the HID lights.
I approached a right turn a litle fast.. Hard braking, hard right, then on the gas again.. Sloooowww. It felt like it was in 3rd..
My 94 Volvo's AT has adapted nicely to this cornering method, and 2nd is always available immediately. Perhaps I didn't get back on the gas hard enough to force a bigger downshift? I expected it to select a lower gear based on the speed and turn..

Also, on what was probably a 3/4 throttle launch from a light in sport mode, one shift was notably sluggish. It felt like a M.T. trans with severe clutch slip, taking nearly a second to fully engage. I hope this isn't normal behavior, since it's not very good for the clutches.

On the first turn, auto.

I wish that training manual covered the software as well as it did the mechanics.

Default my experience..

if you were braking hard and then you got on the gas again and didn't floor it, it's not going to downshift a lot. like any automatic, it's going to downshift to a lower gear based on how far in the throttle is.

and about your 3\4 throttle launch.. it'll delay like that if you don't have it to the floor. with mine, i can putt around in sport mode and the shifts are only as fast as they should be when i'm full throttle. otherwise it's like my car is almost confused as to wtf i'm doing.

Default No, just addictive.

D is always trying to give you good gas mileage, at the price of less power. S is the opposite. M is what you make it.

A kick-down out of D (flatten the nipple!) would have given you what you wanted in that turn.

Default "Auto" only eliminates one possibility; were you in D or S in the corner?

During my too-brief test drives, I found the D-mode somewhat reluctant to downshift, while S was more than ready to drop through the gears.

Perhaps it's intelligent enough to try to avoid shifting in the middle of a corner (probably wishful thinking on my part).

Default OK, Just "D". Not S, and no paddle presses within the last 30 sec.

Side note: I went for the paddles in another turn, couldn't find them... Either I'm going to have to keep my hands clamped to the same points on the wheel at all times, or set up a left foot shift lever :-)

Default Paddles much?

downshift with the paddles to 2nd as you're hitting the turn.
