Default Any comments on Sport Edition wheels?

Want to get some cheap winter wheels, are they OK?

They're not bad for winter wheels. But if you want to upgrade later on you might as well use your OEM wheels for the winter.

Default my mom had the fox2 as winter wheels....

she had them for about 2 seasons before getting a flat and bending 2 of the wheels. from what she said though she hit a massive pothole so i don't think the wheels were really at fault as most wheels probably would have bent under the circumstances.

cursh on the b5 forum has the tekno's, ive never heard him say anything bad about the wheels and i think they look good for the money. not sure if he uses them for winters though.

i will be ordering a new set of fox wheels this weekend for my moms car for the winter. i think for the money they're a good deal and look better than steelies.

just my .02

Default Yes they are actually a great buy...

I got a SUPER deal as a package from TireRack for 16"Alloys (SportEditionFox5),
Aluminum Stems (TR will include for $0, just need to ask) & DunlopWinterSportM3s...
Rounded them off w/my custom 4-Ring Caps.

I just received the Dunlop M3's from Tire Rack, mounted on the Sport Edition D3 wheels. (There seems to be a "3" theme going here, but not on purpose). Just from initial appearance, they looked flawless, even the paint. They are only about $30 more expensive than the steel wheels, so I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't fork over a little extra for the alloys.

Eddie Man,

Where did you get the replacement Audi center caps ??? Wish I would have known about the aluminum valve stems.

Hey... Just noticed that Tire Rack is offering a $50 rebate on most Dunlop tires, including the Winter Sport M3's !!! I think I qualify even though I already received my shipment.

Default The caps are custom...

Got the 4 Rings Decals from someone on-line and then basically:
1. Bondo'd the Sport Edition Cap Surface
2. Sanded to a satin finish
3. Primed / 2 coats
4. Painted w/ Silver Metalic (Generic Paint from Home Depot, Match is decent)...3 coats
5. Attached 4-Ring Decal.
6. Clear Coat...3 coats.
7. Done.

Hope this helps
BTW, I believe you can get an online coupon for teh rebate. Good luck.
