Default Any one with a APR chip here? Couple of questions

How do you like it? Im thinking about getting one, but im wondering if you can shift on the fly. Or do you have to turn off the car and wait for 10 seconds every time you want to change the program to get the extra HP. Any concerns about its just working the engine to hard? Fuel consumption?

Default You can switch programs on the move.

I can't speak about the performance of the A3 chip, but I've had an APR chip in my 99 A4 for a couple of years and the performance gain is impressive. Also, I've never had any sort of problems related to having the chip.

Default I've had my A3 chipped for a couple of months now, and...

I really love it. I currently only have the "93" program. The only reason I want the stock program is to have the ability to go back to lower octane gas should supply demand it. I've averaged better than 32 MPG on the highway at 80+ MPH on several long trips (300+ miles), and 25-27 MPG in city only driving is common. I don't think the engine is working much harder...it never feels like it's straining or anything. Just pulls as long as you keep a foot in it. Of all the modifications I've made to my cars over the years, this one is the best. It's the least noticable to the public, and yet it's the highest (HP & Tq)/$ spent gain I've achieved.

Default love it...

I only have the 93 octane program, as EMCS was not yet available. I'll add stock soon.

Default How do you switch?

I have no experience with this... is it a software control or a physical switch or what?

Default Re: How do you switch?

it's a series of "push-hold" combo's on the cruise control stem...see the APR website for the procedure.

Default That page mentions turning the car off for 10 seconds.

Turn the ignition key off for 10 seconds, turn the key back on, and you will be locked in that program until you change it again.

Default Thats what i was wondering about. If i need the power right away,

do I have to turn the car off. Or just hit a botton? Driving around in a "sport mode" would use extra gas.

Is the system transparent for warranty purposes?
