What impact would 1200 horizontal rez maximum have on total picposter size?

things. Compress it more, or dumb down the image which in essence is a type of compression. The less color information needed in a picture the smaller it will get. An image like the lovely one you posted in AWOT will not compress well because it has so many colors in it. The more colors the worse the compression. As better compression algorithms or improvement on current ones occur fitting more picture in the same space will be possible. Play around in pshop and save the image in different formats and different color ammounts (in gif's) and qualitys (in jpg) and see the visual differences and quality differences.
