Default Question about locked post...

The post below was "locked" last night. I no longer have access to the delete button, but I can edit and respond to the post (I haven't tried, but all the appropriate facilities seem to be available). The "off-topic" icon is now gone as well.

So what does this mean? I thought "locked" status meant nobody was supposed to be able to respond? Why was it changed? I'm just curious.

Default It is not locked now. Could have been a mistake by a mod.

A locked post cannot be posted to by anyone, even the thread creator. But you are able to modify your own post, I am pretty certain.

Default Perhaps there is more than one kind of lock? (see screenshot within)

I'm aware of the typical thread lock, where the icon appears next to the thread header, and you can not respond. This thread never had that particular icon, and I can still reply to the thread (see test response inside thread...placed there 5 minutes ago).

The "Status locked" portion I am referring to is only visible when I open the thread, and it replaces the thread "delete" icon that is normally present.

Any idea what this is?

Default See screenshot. When viewing a post you posted, there is a "delete"

option. This is replaced by Status locked in the screenshot.

Default Yes, but when the status locked appears

then nobody can post to a thread, not even the original thread starter. Plus we should be seeing a locked icon, which we are clearly not seeing.

It seems as though the thread is only partially locked and something happened to the database.

Default I think I know why

It's an issue with off topic posts. Your post was marked off topic by a moderator. I believe people previously reported that when a moderator marks their post off topic, they are unable to delete it.

Default Hmmm, that's curious...because I marked the post off-topic myself...

Here is what I believe the sequence of events was...

1. I typed the post, and hit the button to post the message.
2. I hit the "Back" button on my browser, updated the post as needed, and clicked "Off Topic", then hit post message again. This is were I usually see "duplicate message, overwriting" (and I did).
3. I went back to make sure I saw the "OT" icon (so I don't get yelled at), and I did.
4. This morning I'm scrolling through the posts, and the "OT" icon is no longer there. I open the thread, and see "Status Locked".

I cross-posted in the A4 forum in a similar manner. That thread can be found at the link below. Same exact results there as well.
