Default 84 coupe over heating

Now i know alot of the Audi's through out the 80's over heat, but i am wondering if anyone knows how to fix this problem. I cant even drive on the freeway with out the guage going to the top and the light start flashing, i also half to have the heat on full blast, thats all right for now cause its still cold out here, but when the blazing summer sun comes what the hell em i gonna do? If anyone has had this problem and knows how to solve please reply.
